Update!

Well, my parents are in town, but that hasn’t stopped me from my pursuit of getting back into Hollywood! We’ve had a few detours, like a boring Scottish Festival that my mom wanted to go to, (sadly there was no Scotch there… It would have made the day go faster!) but I’ve still been trying to stay in the hunt for new acting work.

While I have yet to hear if my remaining “active” pilot is going to be picked up, I do have an intriguing meeting for a sequel to that 1987 film “Mannequin”! The new film will be in 3D and feature a larger chested “Mannequin”, so they came up with the clever title “Mannequin 3DD.” Get it? Cool, huh? (It’s also the third film in the franchise as well.) I have a meeting with the producers tomorrow. I’ll keep my Twitter followers updated throughout the day and write up a big update here tomorrow evening!

#turnerdownsneedsactingjob

Hey! I’m gonna try updating this website more often, but I am tweeting at Twitter!

On Twitter, they have this thing called a “Hash Tag” which can be put on a tweet so people can find ones about a particular topic. I’m creating my own- #turnerdownsneedsactingjob. I’ll use this “hash tag” as part one of my campaign to get back on TV.

Ask Turner: What happened to your Bongo PC ad?

Those of you following me on Twitter know that I had been selected to star in a Bongo PC commercial.

I was the original Bongo Buddy back in college when CEO Mark Taylor was building the PCs from his college dorm
Room. Zach Braff is the new Buddy, which pissed me off, but they invited me to be in the commercial, so I went. Flash forward to now; Zach’s ads have been on the air for months with no sign of my participation.

I called the ad agency and they shuffled me from person to person with no actual explanation of why my ad hadn’t aired yet. At an alumni event, I ran into Mark and he looked embarrassed when I asked him about it. Apparently the ad agency thought my ad would confuse the public, so it wouldn’t be used. So, I did make a quick $1,000 on that one, but the big bucks are paid out when the ad is actually used. Sonofa-

Ask Turner: You Have No Life, Why Can’t You Keep Your Website Updated?

Sadly, this is the question that I’ve been asked most often these days. My answer? It’s a lot of work to try to get my name back on the lists of Hollywood casting directors. I have to study Variety and a ton of websites each day…. then I have to take a nap and….. okay, maybe I have become a bit lazy, but nothing I’ve tried so far has worked. At least I (mostly) invested my money.

Ask Turner: Why Can’t You Play a Dead Guy on a Cop Show?

One question that I’ve been asked is why I don’t try playing a dead guy or murderer on one of those cop shows. I’ve tried! They tell me, however, that I am too recognizable to play a dead guy and not recognizable enough to play a murderer. Apparently, it would be too distracting for the audience to see me lying there dead while the cast collects up the evidence, but not enough people remember me to justify making me the murderer. (Apparently, they wouldn’t get enough viewers to watch by announcing me as the guest star.) Isn’t Hollywood a bizarre place?

About today’s M@s0n Meeting…

Well, those of you who follow my Twitter feed know this already, but I went to a meeting to discuss my possible involvement in a reboot of the Perry Mason franchise, called (alternatively) “P3rry”, “M@s0n” and just “Mason”. In an unfortunate circumstance, I was being stalked by some chick who wants me to invest in a video telephone scheme, and because I’m too much of a sissy to just tell her no, I’ve been avoiding her all weekend. Which means that I haven’t been going anywhere, which was disastrous since I don’t keep much food in my house. I was desperate for anything to eat, so I cooked up an old box of Hamburger Helper (it must have come with the house) without hamburger in it. This made me terribly sick, which was a bad thing, because…

As luck would have it, I thought I was feeling better so I went to Burbank for the “Mason” meeting instead of trying to reschedule due to my poor dinner choice. Of course, my stomach took just this moment to become completely unstable and I ended up leaving the remainder of my ill-fated Hamburger Helper and most of the waffles that I ate over the weekend on the network’s conference room table. They told me that this could happen to anyone and that they would reschedule for a later time when I was feeling better. Of course, they were just being nice; I’m sure they crossed my name off of their list as soon as I left.

I had to drive back to PC with some vomit on my shirt. When I got back into town, I decided to change into a clean shirt and go get some Pepto Bismol to handle my stomach pains. Of course, the video telephone chick was at the Bargain Town and kept harrassing me even more about this marvelous investment. I decided to write her a check to get her off my back, even though these phones have to be a scam of some sort. The joke is on her, though; I canceled that account years ago.
